one at a time......Bruce

Bruce is a joy to walk and really seems to enjoy being on his own with me.

When we're alone, he doesn't run off into the distance on the trail of the scent of food, but waits to see where I want him to go......

......and for Bruce, the time when we sit and have cuddles is probably his favourite of all!

Today, we just went to the park and sat on the bench, but sometimes, we go to a local cafe and share a bit of something tasty.....which he definitely loves!

one at a time.....Cairo

Cairo trots dutifully beside me, no pulling on the lead or lunging at buses these days.

He responds really well to the purposefulness of our one-on-one walks. Today, we went to pay bills at the post office and he sat very patiently outside waiting for me............

.....after which we went to the park and had time playing with the ball..........

.......which he either wants me to throw or he's just happy to run along with it safely stored in his mouth

....and of course, there's always sniffing to be done!

one at a time......Jimmy

With the aim of having better-behaved and more contented dogs, I've started taking each one for his own separate walk every couple of days.

Apart from getting some training on the lead and having a purposeful walk - instead of always just driving to the park and roaming free - they each have some one-on-one time with me, which we're all enjoying.

The exercise is good for me too, but I'm usually ready for a lie-down after walking for a total of about 90 minutes!

Jimmy gets to walk off leash most of the way, due to his age and the fact that he's so well behaved.

His walks consist of lots of sniffing................bushes...........

......poles........trees, fences......anything and everything really.

........and I have to watch him as he sometimes gets a whiff of something interesting in someone's yard, and I have to be quick enough to stop him before he gets in there, otherwise he could be in there for ages.

The single walks are great for Jimmy because he gets to go at his own pace for a change, and not having to keep up with his 2 younger brothers......

Cairo's enjoying the new haven more than anyone.....he LOVES it, especially rolling around on the lawn...

Beautiful rains yesterday and today, the garden's very happy!

The new trees have settled in and started their growth spurt already.....yay!

Bed time for the boys

No matter how much fun Bruce is having chasing the moths and bugs outside at night, he's always the first to come in and go to bed when I ask. He's also the only one who stays faithfully put all night............

.........whereas Jimmy's usually quite good at going to his bed when asked, but will sometimes get up and go for a wander around the house at all hours.................

..........and Cairo just decides from one night to the next where he'd like to sleep.....could be in the bedroom on his cushion, or here on one of the 3 cushions in the sunroom................

.......wherever or however they sleep, they're always pretty adorable!

a new green world

The boys are having a great time exploring the new garden....there's so much to sniff and do out there.

Jimmy's especially loving all the new plants he can claim for his own :-)

One of Bruce's fave spots is still with his nose under the front fence checking out whatever's passing by the house, so he can be sure to let us know all about it........

.........meanwhile, Jimmy's found his favourite bush to lie beside in the sun.

They're spending a lot more time outside now. Cairo has rediscovered the outside dog bed from where he can comfortably keep an eye on his lawn....which he loves rolling on......as well as making sure those pesty magpies don't invade his territory.

Spot the dog.....and the trees.....and the lawn.......yay!
