weeds are gone!!!

After being quoted $1,200 for someone to get rid of the weeds in the back yard, I finally went ahead and did it myself yesterday!

Now all that remains of the weeds is 4 HUGE piles like this one strewn abour the yard, awaiting removal.

The removal of weeds is the next step in officially being able to keep little Jimmy - now the council ranger can come and inspect the property to make sure it's suitable for keeping a third dog.

In the meantime, Jimmy has been taken off the Save-A-Dog website as ADOPTED.
Jimmy's very happy about this!!!

a visit with Hugo

I visited my friend Diane yesterday and her darling little dog Hugo. He's so sweet and affectionate........and doesn't mind posing for the camera. Adorable!!!

Meanwhile, I'm still recovering from falling and hurting my knee on Monday, so our 'walks' since then have consisted of driving to the parks, me sitting down on the ground and the boys wondering around the vicinity having a good sniff or playing with other dogs, and Cairo chasing his ball.

The weather's been pretty warm, so they're all getting tired a lot quicker, which has been halpful.

boys in the bed!

The last few nights, I've let Jimmy sleep on the bed next to me.....he's quiet as a mouse and barely moves an inch all night. In the mornings, the other two boys come up on the bed for our morning meditation practice.

They all lie perfectly still until I start my stretching then they know it's time to get up. That's when the fun starts and there's lots of excitiement about getting the day started.

Cairo's preferred spot is under the covers at my feet............................

............Bruce lies on my left.................

.............and Jimmy likes to lie at the top of the bed beside my head.........which is usually fine except for the very occasional smelly noise he pops out

Jimmy's here to stay!!!

Well, it's official.........subject to council approval..........Jimmy's staying with us!

However, one of the criteria the council ranger will be checking before granting us a 3-dog permit is that the garden is not overgrown with weeds..........which would sadly mean that we would not be getting our permit if the ranger came to inspect the yard today.

The council also want confirmation from at least 2 neighbours that they approve of the third dog staying and if the premises are generall in safe and clean condition......shouldn't have any problems there!

bird and its nest

I wonder if I'd be out at the park enjoying nature and sunshine twice a day if I didn't have dogs? Probably not, and then i'd miss such beautiful sights as this magpie lark watching over its nest..............

............dogs finding interesting things to sniff................

..........and dogs on the run!

I did it again!

Poor sweet, patient little Cairo! Last time it was the pantry, the time before that it was the little bathroom and before that out in the front yard........again! just like this morning!

I'll be looking for him in all his favourite spots, calling him in for brekky this time, and starting to even get a bit cross imagining him waiting for me to play the hose game at the backyard tap.

Finally, when I've exhausted all other possibilities, I think of checking the pantry........not there this time...........the bathroon?...........not there either........and as I'm walking to the front door, wondering if Ive seen him since we've come in, it dawns on me that he's been locked out the whole time!

It wasn't very long this time, only about 10 minutes. One time when he was trapped in the small bathroom, it took me about an hour to realise he was missing, and even then it was only because he did the littlest bark to let me know he was in there. that was also how I discovered him in the pantry the time before.

Maybe next time I'll know better!?!

old jimmy's still full of beans!!!

and cairo still loves rolling around on the wet grass, worms and/or bird poop.......lovely!
